Kicking Off National Child Abuse Prevention Month in Forsyth County

Yesterday, the Forsyth County Courthouse hosted the kickoff event in Forsyth County to mark Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Among the attendees was the Forsyth County Children’s Law Center (CLC) team.

At the heart of the event were stirring words from prominent figures like Elizabeth Miller, CEO of The Parenting Path, and Forsyth County District Court Judge Theodore Kazakos. Miller's words struck a chord as she emphasized, "Our children in Forsyth County are our most valuable resource, and we think that every child deserves to grow up with safety and love." Her call for community vigilance against abuse and neglect echoed a sobering truth—often, intervention comes too late in tragic cases.

Judge Kazakos further underscored the urgency of collective action by calling for a moment of silence to honor the children who fell victim to abuse in 2023. His solemn tribute reminded us of all the imperative action needed to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

As we navigate through Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, it's critical to heed the calls of advocates like Elizabeth Miller and Judge Kazakos. Awareness, action, and support for families in crisis are paramount to the health of a community. Every individual and organization play a vital role in creating a safer environment for our children.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Forsyth County and reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect. Together, we can strive towards a future where every child grows up in a safe and nurturing environment.
