Have a plan before the crisis.
Pay attention to your abuser’s daily routine.
Be aware of your surroundings. If an argument begins to escalate while at home, try to move into the bedroom or living room.
Avoid wearing items around neck that can potentially be used to strangle you.
Check-in daily with a neighbor or family member that you trust. Develop a code word or signal when you need help.
Gather essential items that you may need if you have to leave your home quickly. (ex: Carry your ID, extra set of keys & any Credit Cards).
Save and memorize the FJC phone number for your county.

Bridges to Hope Family Justice Center of Forsyth County
Bridges to Hope Family Justice Center is a multi-agency approach to services for victims of domestic violence. The Center is located at 725 Highland Avenue adjacent to the Behavioral Health Plaza in Winston-Salem, NC. 336.776.3255
Bridges to Hope Family Justice Center provides a "one-stop shop" for domestic violence victims by bringing together key service providers from the criminal and civil justice systems, law enforcement, victim advocates, legal advocates, providing access to a variety of services to victims in one centralized location.
Family Services of Forsyth County
Family Services is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving Forsyth County in North Carolina since 1905. Working together with individuals and families, Family Services offers a full range of services including counseling, education, intervention, and advocacy.
Its mission is to promote the school readiness of children, the well-being of adults and families, and the safety of those in the community impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.
Family Services is the primary provider of Head Start services to children and families in Forsyth County. In addition, it is also the primary provider for domestic violence programs which includes a shelter for women and their children.

Guilford County Family Justice Center
The Guilford County Family Justice Center (FJC) is a new public safety initiative through Guilford County that is designed to bring professionals together under one roof to provide coordinated collaborative services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child maltreatment, and elder abuse victims. It opened in June of 2015.
The collaboration of professionals at the FJC seeks to make services for victims more easily accessible, provide a safe, supportive environment for those seeking help, provide streamlined and better coordinated services, increase and improve communication among entities serving victims, increase successful prosecution in family violence cases, and reduce offender recidivism.
The FJC is located at 201 S. Greene St. in downtown Greensboro and at 505 East Green Drive in High Point.
Family Service of the Piedmont
Family Service of the Piedmont offers victim advocate services, including crisis intervention, victim support through legal and medical proceedings, a 24-hour crisis line, shelters for battered women and their children (Clara House & Carpenter House), a women’s domestic violence support group and a children’s treatment group. In addition, groups for male and female batterers, and individual and family counseling are also available.

The Parenting Path
The Parenting Path (formerly Exchange/SCAN) provides a variety of programs to prevent and treat child abuse, including supervised visitation.
20 different services or support groups are used in the prevention and treatment of child abuse and over 10,000 individuals are reached in 16 counties in Northwest North Carolina.
