Makayla Williams – Outcomes Specialist, Stepping Forward

Children’s Law Center (CLC) is excited to welcome Makayla Williams, our new Stepping Forward Outcomes Specialist, to the team. The Stepping Forward program, a collaboration of CLC and the Winston-Salem office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, supports survivors of domestic violence to identify and eliminate barriers to compliance with their Domestic Violence Protective Orders and create stable lifestyles away from their abusers. Makayla leads this effort by engaging clients with community resources to address issues that are common in domestic violence cases, including access to housing, applications for Food and Nutrition Services (food stamps), obtaining employment, and enrolling themselves or their children in counseling to promote emotional and psychological wellbeing. Makayla recently earned her Master’s in Social Work from UNC-Greensboro and brings to the job a strong combination of experiences which will enable her to connect with and serve clients.

In her own words, Makayla shares why our work interests her, “I am excited about starting my new position with CLC because I will be able to assist individuals in overcoming unwarranted situations. My hope is that I am able to equip individuals with resources and knowledge that they not only deserve but that it will allow them to reconstruct the future of them and their children in a positive, empowering manner.”.
