EDUCATION ADVOCACY PROGRAM’S IMMEDIATE IMPACT

One of the most significant and transformational announcements in the history of Children’s Law Center was the launch of our Education Advocacy Program (EAP) in March 2023. When we launched the program, our goal was to serve 80 families through our educational workshops and 80 students through direct representation by the end of the pilot phase of the program in December 2024.

Through the first nine months of the program (March-December 2023), EAP has served over 100 students and families in need of resources and representation. We educated 86 families on their rights related to public education through our community workshops and represented 21 students in disputes with the school district. The program has already surpassed the number of families we hoped to engage with through our community workshops with 12 months left to go! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collective effort of our team but also confirms the need for this new program in our community.

CLC’s Education Advocacy Program has been tirelessly working to provide free legal advocacy and information for students and families to empower them to advocate for their rights more effectively within the education system in Forsyth County. From offering families the resources and information they need to advocate for their students, to providing direct representation and advocacy, our team has been at the forefront of ensuring that students receive the education they deserve.

We want to thank the families who trust us to be their advocates and partners in the pursuit of quality education for their children. This impactful work could not be possible without our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners who have played a crucial role in reaching this milestone.

As we celebrate this accomplishment, we also recognize that there is a tremendous amount of work to be done. The need is even greater in the community than we anticipated. We have the potential to impact countless more families in Forsyth County. We look forward to continuing to work toward a future where every student has equal access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive.
