SERVING MORE CHILDREN IN CUSTODY ADVOCACY
We are excited to share some remarkable news regarding the achievements of our Custody Advocacy Program (CAP) at Children's Law Center of Central North Carolina. In January 2023, we announced our goal to serve 20% more children throughout the year as a direct response to the growing need for our custody advocacy work in Forsyth and Guilford Counties. In 2023, our dedicated team surpassed all expectations by serving 38% more children compared to 2022.
This significant increase in the number of children served underscores the vital role that CAP plays in advocating for the rights and well-being of children during custody proceedings. CLC’s CAP attorneys have been tirelessly working to ensure that every child's voice is heard and their best interests are prioritized in domestic violence and high conflict custody cases.
In 2023, we expanded our services in Guilford County to include high conflict custody cases in addition to our longstanding work in domestic violence protective order cases. This gave CLC the opportunity to advocate for children that were not being served and align our custody services across both counties in our service area.
The commitment of our CAP team, combined with the invaluable support from our attorney volunteers, has allowed us to broaden our reach and impact. As a result, more children and families have benefited from the advocacy provided by Children’s Law Center.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters who have made this achievement possible. Your commitment to our mission has empowered us to make a real difference in the lives of children suffering from trauma.
As we reflect on this remarkable growth, we remain steadfast in our dedication to improving the lives of even more children in the coming years. Together, we will continue to advocate for the rights of children and work towards creating a community where every child is supported, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
