On October 15th, Children's Law Center Custody Advocacy Program Director, Paige Gilliard, and CLC Board Member, Marcus Shields, were sworn in to the United States Supreme Court Bar. Paige and Marcus were accompanied by four other attorneys from the Greensboro Bar Association and Superior Court Judge Patrice Hinnant (ret.). Paige’s father served as her movant during the ceremony and petitioned the court to swear her in. A really great moment for both Paige and her father.
All justices were in attendance. Following the ceremony, the attorneys had the opportunity to observe two oral arguments at the Supreme Court, an exciting opportunity for these legal professionals to observe the highest court in the land at work. Reflecting on the experience, Paige considers it a highlight of her professional career as well as an incredible personal experience. CLC is extremely proud of Paige for this incredible achievement and her tenacious advocacy for children.
